Employee counselling

There are occasions in everyone’s life when we are faced with circumstances which affect us deeply in a negative way. Sometimes the circumstances may be work-related, but even if they are not, when that effect is prolonged or extreme it will impact on our performance at work.

ESA recognises that a speedy intervention can benefit both the employee and employer.

For the employee it can:
  • Help them to understand and help themselves.
  • Understand the situations and look at them with a new perspective and positive outlook.
  • Help them in better decision making.
  • Highlight alternate solutions to problems.
  • Enable them to cope with the situation and the stress.
  • Helping reach a decision to change and support them through the process.

For the employer, employee counselling can:

  • Reduce sickness levels.
  • Create a better working environment.
  • Reduce conflict in the workplace.
  • Improve and increase the employee productivity.
  • Build a sense of commitment through demonstrating a caring attitude toward employees.
  • Reduce levels of stress and anxiety at work.
  • Re-enforce desired behaviour.

What issues would benefit from counselling?

  • Stress at home and at work
  • Family or relationship problems
  • Harassment or bullying at work
  • Bereavement
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Post traumatic stress
  • Alcohol or drug related problems
  • Excessive gambling
  • Any concerns that are causing worry
